How to Unblock your Wide format Printer Head

If your wide format printer nozzle check shows interruptions in the same place each time, it is likely that either paper dust or some foreign material has found its way underneath your print head, and has combined with your inkjet ink to form a hard area of dried ink, which is refusing to be shifted.

Video 1 - Unblock Printer Heads

Video Description

This video demonstrates how to unblock a blocked printer head. A blocked printer head is when Ink dries on a print head, usually with a mixture of ink and paper dust. Do not run multiple cleans as this in fact makes it worse, as even more ink dries out and wastes ink!

1 - Remove Cartridges and Power Cable
2 - Place a paper towel under head
3 - Use syringe to insert Magic Bullet into ink exit ports

Magic Bullet Printhead Un-Blocker
Magic Bullet breaks ink particles down.
Directions as shown in video -
1 - Cut a cloth approx 50mm x 300mm
2 - Mover carriage across, place the cloth under head
3 - Lay cloth on platen, pull head across
4 - Draw Magic Bullet, apply on each side of cloth
5 - Pull the cloth back and forth for 10 seconds
6 - Repeat process until perfect Nozzle Check

5 - Soak cotton buds with Magic Bullet
6 - Clean Surround

1 - With a flat screw-driver push to back of printer
2 - Soak cotton bud with Magic Bullet
3 - Wipe cotton bud either side of wiper blade
4 - If lots of dry ink wipe with screwdriver
5 - Lubricate with Magic Bullet
6 - Don't forget to place wiper blade back!

2 - Allow to soak for 30 seconds
3 - Dry with towel, do not touch film strip!
4 - Repeat 2 or 3 times
5 - Spit pad should be allowing head to clear itself
